NEW YORK — The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, convened with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

Participants included dignitaries such as Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Al-Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, as well as the Secretary-General of Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The meeting also saw the presence of Malaysia's Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir and UAE Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, the representative of the Arab Group in the Security Council.

Discussions centered on the Gaza Strip's situation, highlighting achievements of the humanitarian truce in releasing prisoners. The committee emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire, international responsibility in protecting civilians, and adherence to international law.

The meeting addressed implementing UN resolutions for the safety of Palestinians against Israeli violations, advocating for a return to the path of peace through two-state solutions. The committee reaffirmed support for Palestinian rights, calling for the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The members urged the international community to secure relief corridors for urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza and rejected blatant settlement activities and forced displacement of Palestinians.
