IsDB group hosts cricket tournament

JEDDAH ‑‑ The Islamic Development Bank is holding its inter-group cricket tournament. Sponsored by IsDB’s social and entertainment club SOCOM and with support of one of its entity, ITFC, the tournament is underway at the green lawn ground of the IsDB premises, Sahil AlMarai, head of SOCOM, said.

Four teams from different IsDB entities are taking part in the tournament which will end in Mid of April. Dignitaries from different entities were in attendance at the inaugural match of the tournament between IsDB Red and IsDB Blue teams.

The IsDB Blue team won the toss and choose to bat first. The team scored 89 runs in the allotted ten overs with captain Ahmed Azam scoring 12 runs. Khaja was the top scorer with 17 runs.

Chasing the target of 90 runs, Red team chased it down comfortably in 9 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. Top scorer for the Red team was captain Hamza Hashmi who scored 30 runs not out followed by Umar Taufiq scoring 18 runs. Captain Hamza Hashim also was the top wicket taker with two wickets. From the Blue team, top wicket taker was Zaid Omer (2) while Azam, Khaja and others bagged one wicket each.

Zameer Iqbal, vice president of IsDB group, personally played and watched the match until the end of two innings.
