— The Justice Ministry has announced new regulations that allow private notaries to charge fees under the ministry’s supervision.

The notaries are also authorized to certify contracts and statements all over the world while abiding by applicable national laws and international agreements ratified by Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the regulations grant new powers to private notaries, including the notarization of contracts and statements for property sale and conveyance, mortgage transactions, distribution of movable property, powers of attorney, leases, and articles of association.

The regulations define a private notary as a person empowered to perform all or part of a notary public’s functions, under a license from the Ministry of Justice.
