JEDDAH — Moderate to heavy thundershowers accompanied by hailstorms and active winds kicking dust and causing low visibility are expected to continue on Sunday in Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk, according to the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection (GAMEP).

Inclement weather conditions will also affect Al-Qassim, Hail, Jouf and Northern Frontier provinces as well as parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh region.

Mist is expected during the night and early morning hours in the Eastern Province, Northern Region and Southwestern Highlands, the GAMEP report said.

GAMEP said any information on weather forecast can be obtained by calling 988.

Meanwhile, Jeddah Mayor Saleh Al-Turki reassured Jeddah residents that all contingency plans are in place.

He said that no tunnel or underpass has been closed to traffic till now. Moderate to heavy intermittent rain disrupted normal life in several parts of Jeddah city where the southern and eastern parts experienced heavy downpour with thunderstorms on Saturday.

The Harmain Highway, the busiest road in the city, witnessed slow traffic in morning hours due to water logging on roads.

Jeddah Municipality deployed 1,700 personnel and pressed into service 837 machinery to flush out water from city roads, it said in a statement.
