Sons of martyred security men to participate in World Cup inauguration

RIYADH — The sons of martyred security men are set to participate in the opening ceremony of the Soccer World Cup, which will commence with the long-awaited football match between Saudi Arabia and Russia at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

This is an initiative by the General Sports Authority (GSA) with support from its Chairman of the Board of Directors Turki Bin Abdulmuhsin Al-Asheikh.

Eleven of the martyrs’ children, who arrived several days ago in Russia, along with the Saudi national team players, will enter the stadium before the encounter. The match is expected to be followed widely all over the world.

This generous gesture comes as an appreciation for the great heroic role by the martyred security men in protecting their religion, leaders and nation. They sacrificed their lives defending this pure land. – SPA
