70 young boys and girls take part in Islamic quiz

AN Islamic Quiz competition for young boys and girls was held at Saudia City Compound in Jeddah at the weekend. The event was conducted in the compound mosque and was attended by a large number of people.

The contest was open to all children from KG to intermediate or senior secondary school. The quiz was divided in three groups based on the grades of the children. More than 70 children participated in the quiz competition.

In Group A, Ameen Khan from boys’ section and Laraib Zeeshan Khan from girls’ section won the first prize. In Group B, Adham Dewedar and Emaan Ahsan Khan were the winners. In Group C, Ahmad Hadi and Khadija Suleman were adjudged winners.

The winning children were awarded medals, gifts and certificates. The certificates were awarded jointly by SARED (Saudi Airlines Real Estate Development Company) and Maulana Hifzur Rahman Seoharvi Academy, Jeddah.

Roman M Tarabzony, GM-Property Management, SARED distributed the medals and prizes to the winning children. All participating children below Grade 4 were given gift bags.

According to Arshad A. Javed, chief organizer of the quiz event, the questions are focused mainly on the Noble Qur’an. Besides many more questions were added in order to get an all-round understanding of Islam and Muslim beliefs and practices.

The questions from the Qur’an were message-driven rather than being historical or statistical. He also revealed that the Islamic Quiz program is being successfully held in the Saudia City Compound for the last over 10 years.

The event was co-sponsored by Behjat Ayub Najmi, Aziz Siddiqui, Mohammed Rafi, Masroor Hasan, Arshad Ali, Imran Asad, Ashraf Suleman, Shuakat Fattani and Nayer Malik.

The quiz program was moderated by Tariq Ayub Shaikh, Mohammed Rafi, Imran Asad and Kashif Siddiqui. The girls section of the quiz was organized and conducted by Mrs. Iffat Aslam and Mrs. Husna Rafi.

The parents of the children appreciated the program. According to them such contests inspire children to gain knowledge of Islam and Qur’an. In order to participate and succeed in the quiz competitions, children undertake extensive research on Islamic studies and thus it is an effective method in enhancing their knowledge.
